Contest Brief
I am looking for colorful and interesting designs of spheres, circles or atoms to incorporate into my desktop as graphic elements. Each design should be 1) creative, original and colorful; 2) legible at a size of 75x75 pixels 3) be produced in six different versions incorporating a different color in each version: ruby red, emerald green, sapphire blue, purple amethyst, yellow tourmaline, garnet orange. The designs can incorporate other colors but each version of each design should have one of the colors above as its primary color.
Winning entries will be the ones that are visually interesting, sophisticated, scale well to the size I plan to use them (somewhere between 50x50 to 100x100 pixels depending on the design), incorporate shading and texture creatively, add an element of three dimensions (these elements will appear to float about the desktop when in use), that look good in all six color versions, etc. I don't want designs that "look like" other things - no circles of flowers, spheres that look like baseballs, etc. Final versions of the entry must be delivered in PNG format on a transparent background, with each version in a separate file.
I'm uploading several files that 1) illustrate the six colors I'm interested in as well as samples of other work that's been done for me that I like very much. These samples are meant to inspire you to create new designs, not to copy.
This contest is guaranteed so I will be awarding the contest to a single winner, but I will make offers to purchase other designs I also like for lesser amounts so please know that great design will be recognized and rewarded. I'm often online so I react quickly to entries and to answer questions and I try to give useful specific feedback as to what I like and what I don't.
In order to save contestants' time and effort, feel free to submit an entry with a single version of a design - submit the ruby red version for example - and I can indicate if I want to see other versions. I'm leaving the contest open so that all participants can see one anothers designs and see how I judge them. Hopefully, this information will help inspire and guide you. I'm also leaving the contest open for 30 days to give contestants plenty of time to work on this.
Thank you for your interest in this project and I look forward to seeing your designs!
