  given that it is 'guaranteed' it should all be fine mate, they're probably just busy or unable to choose straight away...there's a lot of talent here and with 435 entries its not that easy to pick a winner. Patience is virtue :-)

  They have time to consider the entries, and I think re-open the contest. Personally none of those designs with 5 stars have any longevity or brand power.
  
  For a company that has just started up it is incredibly important to hit the market hard and stand out from the competition other wise the brand becomes lost in the sea of repetition.
  
  Fortune 500 companies might get away with some rather dodgy logo's but they have reached critical mass and brand awareness is firmly in the populations mind.

  i only was very surprised if they check out some material on "letters only, with arial font, and single solid color"..
  its was so long, CH give feedback look like for 'first and last', and its very weird, i think many designers has same think with me. and i think you are include.

How will the logo look in 5 years time after sustained growth ? Upper market ? Iconic ? Illustrative ?

Please reconsider your options. $290 might seem "cheap" but brand reputation is paramount.
