I have a site and i want to be able to give some of my customers a widget to put on thier site for my to syndicate content to.
The method for them to insert this on thier site is pure js. We will give them the js file and it will be used to call our system. The js file will be looking on the page for a DIV with a specific class name like DIV class=content and then we will insert our content here
Content will be sent either by RSS or ATOM, this is an option in the admiin
Our admin will let us add, edit, delete new accounts. accounts are peoples sites that we want to give our widget to. each js that we give to them will have a unique id so we send the right data to the right site
for each widget/customer we will have a text box (wysiwyg) from telerik that will be used to make the content that is syndicated. it will also manage the images that might be sent in the feed. basically we are making a RSS/ATOM management system were we can author content and send it to a specific customer via the widget we give them
Ideally the admin side of this is build with some EXTJS javascript controls as well as telerik for the web editor.
Important note: we will be creating content items (html files) that are what is syndicated, new content items will mean that there is an update seen in the widget, this is all very similiar to just and RSS feed
Ideally we can host the js and just give them what to embedd like google analytics.
Feed must be very effiicient for many many visitors since we dont know what site might host our widget and how much traffic it has.
