WARNING: Think seriously before bidding on this project.
I have an android app that uses FFMPEG for processing videos.
FFMPEG is too slow. It processes a 4 second video in 4 minutes. The iOS app also uses FFMPEG and processes a 4 second video in 1 second.
The job is: speed up FFMPEG processing on Android.
WARNING: if you have not done this before, this job will be HARD.
4 developers have tried, and failed. 3 of them were senior developers.
Things to try:
Use mpeg4 codec.
Documentation: Read the "performance tuning" section at:

That would be an easy fix.
However, it is more likely you will have to create some kind of multi-thread processing and use Android processor in a unique way that is not documented in FFMPEG documentation.
23 freelancers are bidding on average $620 for this job
So comparing to iOS it is 240 times slower, right? May be you should use NDK to access ffmpeg? I just want more details about current implementation. Please provide them before accepting my bid. Thanks, Alex.
