Article on "receiving" stock in a warehouse and the importance of doing it correctly.

I am training some interns in my company warehouse and want to give them proper knowledge on stock / inventory management. In order to do that I need some well researched articles on the various disciplines involved in the process. The first of which will be a general article on the receiving process and the importance thereof in any warehouse environment. The article should touch on but not be limited to: 1) transfer of responsibility / ownership (when you receive anything and sign for it becomes your responsibility) 2) Importance Proper documenting of received goods 3) Proper checking and testing 4) Making sure the product goes to its correct position in the warehouse for storage. 5) product integrity must be checked and maintained. Those are just some suggestions and in no particular order. The article should be written on a very general basis and will not be specific to our warehouse. The idea is to give the learners a basic overview and then in the next article apply it and the principles contained therein to our specific environment. These are unschooled learners so grammar must be sufficiently simple for anyone to understand - no overly fancy or "big" words. I am on a very tight deadline as the interns have already started and I need to give them some training now.
