We want to patch VMware so that it allows any MAC address to be used. We need this for compatibility with an existing 5-year old legacy program that we are using at work. Example of patch is at: [login to view URL] We don't, however, want to patch VMware Workstation v4.5 (as described in the URL above) - we want to patch VMware Server v1.03, from: [login to view URL] To work out if your patch is working, follow the instructions at the following URL: [login to view URL] Use a MAC address that is outside of the range 00:50:56:XX:YY:ZZ. Then, when you start VMware, it will not say "00:02:B4:9A:44:E1 is not an allowed Ethernet address. Invalid MAC address specified."
