Part of a Large C++ application, currently released on Windows XP, Visual Studio 2005, and Linux, is a library currently running in production as a 32-bit component (dll, linux shared libraries). We need assistance to port this library to 64-bit, such that the same source may be compiled for both 32-bit and 64-bit. The Linux build is native, whereas the Windows port uses Cygwin, Perl and XML build control mechanisms. For this reason, we suggest starting with Linux would be the simplest option. Linux port is using Ubuntu 7.10, gcc 4.1 compiler, or RHEL 3.9, gcc 3.2 compiler. The person porting will have full source available for all the major parts. Validation tests will be based initially on IDTF converter. Source is based on open source (sourceforge) package, but with local modifications. Hours flexible. For purposes of this bid. Does not have to be consecutive full-time days, will discuss schedule with bidder. All changed lines in the source should be marked clearly with a structured comment to enable source searching. Partial effort by previous coder and report available. The project will follow this outline: 1. Review current source. 2. Build and run tests on 32-bit Linux (optional, coders's choice) 3. Build on 64-bit, identify compile-time issues, 4. Devise porting strategy, agree with buyer. Same source must build on both 32/64. 5. Complete 64-bit Linux porting, correct functioning of tests. 6. Test on Windows XP 64, Visual Studio 2005 or 2008, 64-bit compiler if possible 7. Supply revised source code, suitable for direct building on 64-bit/32-bit platforms. 8. Supply short technical report explaining design decisions and changes. Conditions: Weekly status reports by email, all IPR & code will be owned by buyer, and will remain confidential, even if based on Open Source. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows? (depending on the nature? of the deliverables): a)? For web sites or? other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software? installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform Primary: Linux 64-bit Secondary: Visual Studio 2005/2008 64-bit Background: must not break current 32-bit builds.
