Control boom gate operation, boards have been made using pic 24F which has an LCD display screen currently has 5 outputs & 8 inputs & uses an AWS XXXX to read angle of output shaft this is the limit switch. This board controls the stepper motor driver.
Basically a command is received from a momentary contact to raise gate. Stepper motor ramps up, then ramps down until desired angle is detected then stops, waits for loop detector to be cleared then lowers with ramp up, ramp down until desired angle is detected. This is the basic. But options are to have RGB led in arm showing red green and amber as traffic lights and flashing red all the time when arm is down, Electro magnet option de-energises 1 sec b4 boom opens. The parameters need to be adjustable & there are 4 push buttons on the board for this. LCD screen shows the adjustable settings in config mode & in auto mode shows what is happening with the boom gate. This is the basics required
