A realistic bid needs to take the following into account : - Windows 7 drivers are much different than writing a driver for Windows XP. There are more implementation options for driver on Windows 7 requiring more time to identify the correct implementation. - Windows XP version driver and code would have to be used to verify functionality on Windows XP. - Any anomaly behavior needs to be characterized or existing bug list needs to be reviewed. - Code modification needed to port to Windows 7 - Reliability and availability testing with various packet sizes - Lead time for receiving the Linksys USB100. - Crashes that happen during development of a driver could require re-install of OS on my computer. All of the above factors contribute to duration of the project.
