Hi, I would love to take up your project. Though I have a suggestion to make. if you want a Windows based AD on the cloud, then a better choice would be Azure AD instead of setting up a Windows Server on AWS and using it as AD. Though you can also use AWS Directory service. but the level of integration with other AD aware applications with Azure AD is much higher. But the choice is still yours. I have 7 years of AWS and almost similar Azure experience and I have worked directly for AWS as well as Microsoft as SP or contractor in my past life so I can do both. Overview of the project: Develop MS Active Directory infrastructure utilizing AWS Directory services for the company to manage users and various other resources. Furthermore, once the AD is integrated, AD dependent AWS workloads (e.g., RDS, SQL, .NET, IT Applications, etc) will be integrated. To access the company resources (both internal and cloud based) a VPN tunnel between on-premise and the AWS will be established. For remote users an AD connector will be used to provide secure connectivity and access to internal resources. Depending on what resources users will be accessing, a trust relationship will be implemented to configure access to AWS resources. Because directories are mission-critical infrastructure, AWS Microsoft AD is usually deployed in HA and across multiple Availability Zones. It will also allow us to roll back a change, Microsoft AD provides built-in, daily, automated snapshots. As an added benefit, AWS infrastructure will be configured to detect and automatically migrate domain controllers and associated GPOs. Finally, a 6 hours of interactive live web based hands-on training will be provided to make sure that the IT staff can properly scale and manage the AWS AD infrastructure and leverage internal resources..
