For this project, you will be responsible for researching and writing a short blog series on video capture cards for Linux. Please note that, since this task involves writing, I will be basing my decision in part on the writing you produce in your bid comment. Bids with empty (or poor) comments will be summarily ignored. Now, with that out of the way, here are the details: You will need to first find 5 video capture cards currently on the market, that are known to work very well with Linux. Then you will need to provide how-to instructions in a blog writing style that describe how to install one of these cards and use it to capture and record video on a Linux system. Your instructions would ideally be specific to Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04, but any popular Linux flavor will do (specify in your bid, please). The 5 video capture cards must meet the following criteria: 1) Each must be well supported in Linux 2) No more than 2 cards may be from the same manufacturer, or use the same video chipset. 3) Cards must be currently available for retail sale in North America, for less than about US$80. 4) Specs: Must capture 640x480 NTSC analog video, and audio (using either on-board audio, or the computer's existing sound card). Hardware encoding is not required.

## Deliverables

Phase 1: Recommended hardware. (5 video capture cards that work well with Linux, as described above). To be approved by buyer before proceeding with Phase 2. Phase 2: 2 blog articles. The articles will be divided as follows: 1. Video Capture Cards in Linux -- This should be a single blog article describing all of the cards, their basic specs, and a summary of their level of support in Linux. Approx. 500-750 words, with fair-use pictures of each card. 2. Capturing Analog Video on Linux - This article will contain the detailed but general instructions for capturing analog video on Linux, using any of the 5 recommended capture cards. By following this article, anyone with basic Linux knowledge should be able to install and capture video using any of the 5 recommended cards. Any reasonable length will be accepted as long as other requirements are met. The instructions must describe how to easily create captured video at 640x480 encoded with MPEG2 or [url removed, login to view], plus audio. Your initial research (Phase 1) and blog articles will be delivered in MS Word format, and must be well-written with perfect English grammar and spelling. On external sources: You must produce original work. You MUST NOT incorporate or plagiarize 3rd party sources or text into the articles. You may use such sources for your own information, but the work you produce must be 100% original. 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows? (depending on the nature? of the deliverables):

a)? For web sites or? other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software? installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
