Sagetech is developing next generation UAV avionics, again setting world records. We are beginning Rev 0.2 of our new MX series aviation transponder now and need rapid support in embedded design and layout. We prefer a contractor for this role and see this as the beginning of a potentially long term working relationship.
The product will be released in phases, beginning this December. It is a highly miniaturized, full-specification aviation transponder (Mode 3A/C, Mode S, ADS-B In/Out), and variants offer Mode 5 crypto-secure "Identification Friend Foe" functionality. Our products do the same thing as existing avionics, but ours are several factors smaller and lighter. Consider options for the Boeing Insitu ScanEagle UAV, which weighs 30 lbs, to carry a Mode 5 transponder (an expected requirement): Sagetech's MX transponder weighs 5.3 ounces, compared with competitive offerings of 6-10 lbs.
The contract engineering role will involve design of a extremely dense PCB assembly, measuring a couple inches on a side. It's a very intricately integrated assembly, with the aluminum packaging providing basic protection, emi shielding, and thermal heat flow.
The design includes/requires:
* Xilynx 7000 series system on chip
* 1090 MHz, 1030 MHz RF receivers
* 1090MHz, 1030 MHz RF transmitter, high power pulse (500 Watt)
* Several switching power supplies
* Serial communications (RS232, RS422, RS485, MIL-STD 1553, ARINC 429)
Our design is subject to FAA design assurance standards, which include:
* DO-160
* DO-254
Software tools:
* Orcad for schematic capture
* Pads PowerPCB for layout
Embedded hardware design, data and analog. Layout of highly complex, dense PCBs, with good command of high speed design best practices. RF experience desired but not absolutely required.
The work is to be completed independently, with occasional onsite visits (duration usually a week) to Sagetech's White Salmon, WA facility. The project will begin with an onsite visit, and onsite visits will be more frequent in the beginning, until you become acquainted with the team and project. Reasonable travel and living expenses will be reimbursed.
Hello! How are you!? I have the skills and experience you need for this project! Please look also at my profile! Send me the detailed requirements of your project so that I can organize the task! Have a nice day!
learn fast,knows PCB design, knows SOC systems, know RF. Honestly, it's a very hard project but I'm willing to take the risk because it is very interesting
I have experience of designing PCB boards for UAV's, and I have been working on software and hardware for Ukrainian UAV manufacturing company. Also I'm familiar with design of PCB boards for Xilinx FPGA (Virtex6, Virtex5, Spartan6, Spartan3) DDR layout, JESD204B layout on Xilinx GTX transceivers. In a field of power electronics I have designed drivers/modulators for high power lasers 50+ Amps 20 Watt Optical power. One of the most interesting projects was PCB and schematics for 32 channel ultrasound Phased Array based system (32 channel 125Mhz 14bit). In fact I have registred on freelancer for this project only as I mostly dont work in freelace manner. It is interesting project for me and good expirience. Good Luck with it anyway.
Hi
I'm an electrical electronic engineer that recently finished my studies
the learning in electronic and review on this site are more important for me from the money , and this can be a opportunity for you that I'm in working by enthusiasm and with low expectations of money
so if you want , we can work on the project by your guidance and my work and research
let's discuss more
Hi. My name is Dmitry.
I have Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. I will have master Degree in January.
I am graduated from Belarusian-Russian University in 2014.
During my studies at the university I worked in a company for the production of electronic control units for BelAZ dump trucks.
So I have experience in PCB design, test, and debug. Also I have experience in MATLAB, OrCAD, Cadence Allegro, LabView. Familiar with AVR, stm32, Pic microcontrollers. I have a basic knowledge of fpga.
This is a big chance for me that I have found you.
The fact is that since childhood I take a great interest in electronics and aircraft modeling. There are some developments in this direction. Previously, I worked in a laboratory for the production of radio-controlled airplanes. I also tried to create a system for controlling the UAV using stm32 microcontroller.
Then I decided to use an open source project APM:Plane. For the experiments, I use the flying wing. There is experience in the calculation and production of antennas for long range video transmitters, calculation and adjustment of PID controllers for aircraft model.
Presently for me it's just an interesting hobby.
But I want to work professionally on the UAV. And your company is a great chance for me.
