Cheap and simple control circuit for a single phase induction motor using PWM and IGBTs

I need help to complete a control for this motor: 230VAC single phase with startup capacitor, 5A Cost is my main constraint, so I've been looking into the freewheeling topology described in this document: [login to view URL] I will be using an Arduino to feed a pwm signal to the optoisolator, preferably at 20khz ------ What I need you to do: 1) Design a suitable isolated power supply to power the gate drive of the IGBTs (+16v1 and +16v2 on the attached schematic) Using a transformer to power these from mains takes way too much pcb space, so maybe this should be done as a dc-dc isolated power supply from the main +5vdc power... it's up to you, but in any case it should be cheap and with small pcb footprint, otherwise we'll just go with a transformer. 2) Help me pick a suitable IGBT and TVS diode for the circuit 3) Assemble and test a prototype to confirm everything works

The bootstrap driving 16V can easily be taken from main AC supply by using transformer less power supply. Only a small capacitor and some passives will do it nicely. 16V can be generated from 5V but problem is the isolation level. Unless a moderate sized transformer is built (at least 8-12mm in size) for this job, the actual isolation voltage wont be enough for it. Hence simply capacitor oriented voltage source will be fine for it at the AC side. As you are going to drive the IGBT driver from arduino 5V source so there will be no problems. Will design the schematic and build the PCB for it. However, if you want me to to test the complete system then component costing would be extra, however I have added the time for it but not the price. However schematic design will be ready in 3 days and hopefully next 2 days for the PCB layout. I have 230V AC / 50Hz electricity and have access to my 1HP water pump motor (with capacitor startup) so can test how this chopper works. Lets do it. Hello First of all. You need 15V Gate-to-Source Voltage, even 11-13V is enough. Maybe “transformer to power these from mains takes way too much pcb space”, but get +11-13V from +5V by using H-bridge is difficult to do, isolated dc-dc is expensive way (and if youwant take input 5V from CPU supply – it is bad idea). Second. What do you expect to get “Assemble and test a prototype". email/skype?
