We want to look at various design ideas for the following:
- lightweight, 20 - 40 ft , hollow resin composite, telecom pole
- supported by a unique screw pile configuration giving it total stability.
- It is "semi-permanent" and can be installed by two men in a matter of hours.
- The base area takes up no more than 9sq ft and due to the screw pile requires minimal geo-technical work but would require locate services.
- The top of the pole has a wifi mesh-capable radio;
- further down is a solar panel;
- around the pole near the base is a compact environmental enclosure with back up batteries; and,
- an electronics back plane required to manage the various radios, routers, power management, data storage and HVAC necessary to provide the various services, etc.
- The pole must be able to carry a wide array of telecommunications gear for licensed and unlicensed spectrum.
- The wifi will self-seek and mesh with the other poles that are in line of sight.
- The objective is to have completely autonomous vertical infrastructure that would blend in and extend incumbent networks without the need for direct utility power in any urban or rural environment.
We need to know
- approximate power budgets and loading of various devices, maximum wind loading, (moment/axial/shear), what kind of antenna mounts, if required,
- what industry certifications might be required in North America and
- total weight based on knowledge of various commercially available radios.
A concept drawing has been attached and needs to be further fleshed out.
