Configuring In Place Editing for Rails Project

I have a Rails project that is using MongoDB. I'd like to be able to edit a name attribute in place. I've tried Best in Place and Rest in Place gems. Also tried 2 or 3 other ones. None of them have worked. Rest in Place almost works, but the attribute gets saved in a hash and only displays after refreshing. I'm open to using a gem, but like I said, none have worked yet. I don't think it's a factor, but I'm also using dynamic attributes in the model. Also, I could also use some help fixing some command line errors. Several of my basic terminal commands are not working right now. I'm guessing something is missing from my $PATH, but I'm not sure what. Since this is for a client, I cannot share the source code repo. I prefer to screen share and work on the task during a live session. I am hoping it will take 1 or 2 hours maximum.
