Good morning sir,
This is an interesting project, and quite simple and funny to achieve (at least for me :))
Getting information from the DOM (ie. window, document, browser) and storing them in an object is not complicated at all. Most of the time, this kind of stuff is to have in a unique location browser capabilities and play with them in your JS code.
I also have noticed you don't want to use JQuery. And you are right about it, JQuery won't be of any help at all.
But, I have few questions/remarks about the overall tasks to be done :
- do you have a complete list of properties you'd like to gather from browser?
- same question for the window?
- same question for the document?
- IMHO, getting data from the parent of a frame is useless because most of the properties will be the same, except if few of them are related to the page size (with and/or height).
- depending on the list of properties you'd like to get from a frame parent, some won't be gotten because of browser security checks (cross-scripting locks)
Here are of few of my thoughts :)
Don't hesitate to contact me if you want to share another ideas and or requirements.
Regards,
G.
