We are using Stoneedge order manager for our inventory control. We just realized that we can't import our Bar-code and the Quantity on hand (QOH) into the system without also including the sku on the same line. This is a problem because we want to be able to scan the bar-codes and count inventory using an app for iPhone call "scan to spreadsheet". From what I have researched it looks like a we need custom Access query to help us with this. Please see the article I found of another user that faced the same problem we have. You will see the reply by Barney Stone at the bottom with a suggestion for a work around to the problem.

Subject: update inventory using only Barcode and QOH?

We are about to change our inventory system to use OM and barcoded inventory. The problem is our products all have localSku's that have nothing to do with the barcode #. We were hoping to just add the barcode into the appropriate field in the product form for all the products and then batch download a .csv file with all of our barcodes and the current QOH using the import inventory function. However, the product name and localSku are required fields. I hope this does not mean we have to enter the product name and localSku into the .csv file before importing as that would be a major undertaking and negate any time savings. Can the localsku and product name be changed from mandatory to optional? or is there another way to update our QOH using only th barcode nad QOH?

The current program cannot import quantity on hand info just using barcodes to indicate which product is which. We could either modify the program to do that, or we could create a custom query to do it. If you are familiar with Access queries, you could also do that yourself. What you need is an Update Query that will update the QOH field based on the Barcode.
Hope that helps,
