ACT! & Outlook Integration

This is an initial inquiry to determine if there are any vendors familiar with the ACT! SDK (<[url removed, login to view]> ).

I'd like to discuss creating an ACT Plug-in program that matches email received within Outlook 2003 with contacts in ACT via the email address. The contents of the email should be transferred into ACT as an inbound email, just as if they were received directly from within ACT. Only selected email, saved to a named folder in Outlook, would be matched. The program would be run on demand from within ACT (or Outlook). Please reply is you have experience with the ACT SDK or general Outlook integration. If so, further detail will be provided. Obviously, the ACT SDK knowledge is a real plus.

Our sales people want to use Outlook and management wants relevant data tracked within ACT. Thus, we need an automated way to connect the two systems (Outlook and ACT). Again, the vision is that only selected email, copied to a specific folder, will be matched with ACT contacts. No need to create new records. If they don't exist, just leave them in the Outlook folder. Only match with existing ACT contacts.

We can use ACT 5.0 or 6.0 (to be released in September). Version 6.0 will use SQL Server as its DB (desktop or server edition). We would prefer to use the ACT SDK if at all possible for the application (as opposed to going directly to the ACT DB).

There are several other things we would like to do with ACT, but this is the most important. Just looking at feasibility and a general guess on cost at this point. Timing is flexible. Thanks.
