*Cache simulation capabilities:* 1. The simulator can model a multi-level caching system with an L1 and L2 cache. 2. Each level of the cache model includes 2*C* bytes of total data storage, having 2*B*-byte blocks, and with sets of 2*S* blocks per set (note that S=0 is a direct-mapped cache, and *S = C - B* is a fully associative cache). 3. Replacement for both levels of the cache is via the *least recently used* (LRU) replacement algorithm. 4. The L1 cache implements one of two *write policies* (WP): 1. the write-through/no-allocate (WTNA) policy or 2. the write-back/write-allocate (WBWA) policy 5. When WP = WBWA, there is an additional *dirty bit* for each tag in the tag store. 6. The L2 cache implements the WBWA policy. 7. There is a *valid bit* for each tag entry that specifies whether or not this entry in the cache has been accessed. When the simulator starts, all *valid bits* are set to false (0). 8. In general, (*CL1, BL1, SL1, CL2, BL2, SL2, WP*) completely specifies the caching system for undergraduate students (ECE 463). These parameters are specified at the command prompt. 9. The size of an address is 32 bits. 10. Note the following restriction: *CL1* must be <= *CL2* and *SL1* must be <= *SL2*. *Input*: The simulator reads a trace file in the following format: r|w <hext address> r|w <hext address> ... Example: r ffe04540 r ffe04544 w 0eff2340 r ffe04548 ... Each line in the trace file is a read or write of one word (four bytes) of data. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). * * *This broadcast message was sent to all bidders on Sunday Oct 7, 2007 5:23:09 PM: Looking for a qualified coder who is efficent in C++ and understands cache ## Platform Windows XP
