This will be very straightforward for a competent programmer. Mark up MP3 files in current directory by autogenerating XHTML and SMIL, following a given spec, to create a basic digital talking book. Most complicated aspect is probably determining length of each MP3 file in seconds. May use external programs. ## Deliverables Write a program or script to generate the minimum necessary XHTML and SMIL files, in order to convert a set of MP3 files into a very basic, single level Daisy talking book, compliant with the Daisy 2.02 specification (see [login to view URL]). Expected operation: Your script is called with a set of MP3 files in the current working directory; they are already appropriately named for Daisy, i.e. 8.3 filenames, and should be taken in lexical order. Your script autogenerates the NCC file and the appropriate SMIL 1.0 files, so that, on exit, the directory contains a very basic Daisy 2.02 digital talking book. If any other XHTML files are essential, these are also generated. If my memory serves, you will need to be able to determine the length of each MP3 file in seconds, in order to properly generate the markup. If you use any external programs etc., make sure they're also available on Windows/Cygwin, so that I could port the script to Windows later, if I so choose. Exit status 0 for all done properly; nonzero plus error on stderr if there are problems. Make sure your code is commented! Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition: full simple installation instructions, suitable for installing in an ordinary user's account on a Debian Etch/AMD64 system. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). However, external programs available as part of a Debian Etch/AMD64 system may be used, provided they are console-based (nongraphical, no X Windows etc.). ## Platform Debian GNU/Linux Etch/AMD64. NO graphics (X Windows, console graphics etc.). Program/script should be noninteractive.
