Application prototype project

The project scope is to develop an integrated application using standard components. The preference is to use open source technology where possible. The application will be heavily process based (BPM) and have a rich client side interface for navigating a large data model. There will be significant business logic within the application to handle different calculations based on complex processes and a large resource inventory. We are specifically looking for a **single** provider who can provide : ? Solution Architecture expertise ? Development resources. ? On both client and server aspects of the project. ## Deliverables Job title : Application prototype Overview The project scope is to develop an integrated application using standard components. The preference is to use open source technology where possible. The application will be heavily process based (BPM) and have a rich client side interface for navigating a large data model. There will be significant business logic within the application to handle different calculations based on complex processes and a large resource inventory. We are specifically looking for a single provider who can provide : • Solution Architecture expertise • Development resources. • On both client and server aspects of the project. The initial phase of the project is to build a prototype that displays 75% of the production functionality. This will be developed over a short intense period of approximately 6-8 weeks where we will want to work in a very close partnership with the development partner. We will start immediately that we identify the correct development partner. We will provide both business and technical requirements and expect the development partner to provide architecture guidance on areas such as : • UI Design • Technology possibilities and limitations • Object model validation • .... It is our expectation that the prototype project will extend into a production release that will take place in the second half of 2011. Technology • n-tier application • Server side : J2EE • Client Side : Flex (or alternative rich client side functionality) • Process Management : jBPM (or equivalent alternative) • Rules Engine : Drools (or requirement alternative) Business and technology requirements • UI able to navigate large complex object model through UI • CRUD functionality on data (datagrid) and form handling • Order • Workflow capability to handle manual actions and exceptions • Automated process manager to co-ordinate sub-processes and tasks • Transaction handling to support complex operations • Templating infrastructure to handle complex document generation (with complex variable substitution rules). • Framework to modify the behaviour without code change (via configurable rules, configuration options) Expected Response To apply for this job posting we require you to provide: • Examples of where you have implemented a similar integrated concept. • Description of the components that you have experience in (e.g Flex, Cairngorm, Spring, Hibernate, jPPM..) and the components you would likely recommend to use. • Description of your organisation and the resources you have available.
