Competitive Price Spider bot

I would like a spider that can retrieve and save the products and prices from a 2 different websites into a MySQL database. I would also like this to as modular as possible. So that I can change the one of websites without affecting the other. I would like it to be done in PHP but will consider of options if they will make the product faster, easier or any other reason.
