Hi, I've read your brief and understand what you're after. I also understand your need to keep costs low - your advice was correct in that the surest way to support PCs and android tablets would be to have it browser-based, but this sort of work would generally inflate the amount of effort involved and so the costs incurred. As the risk of sounding presumptious, I'd advise being wary of Freelancers who can promise to do all that in the budget range outlined. You'd also need to consider what server you'd want to host the browser-based software on, and whether the mobile tablets would always have connectivity to it? My own proposal is a little simpler - you've helpfully provided samples of the current Excel format and the preferred output format. I could easily write you a small Windows-based application (to run on PC only) that would import the Excel from your POS application, and simply output another Excel, with all the data rearranged in your preferred format. From there, the filtering can be done directly in Excel - Excel has excellent functions for filtering data built in. For your tablets, there are several options for apps that will read Excels on the android OS, including one from Microsoft itself. I can turn this around for you in two or three days max, but I would need to start in the next day or two ideally as I have other work scheduled for the first half of next week, so would like to complete this week so as to not hold you up. A bug in freelancer.com causes this to be shown without line breaks. Please refresh. Sometimes that works. You will run it on a tablet or PC and on the web because it will be a google docs script and UI. but you will need access to the web. Another option is to have this as an Excel macro. In which case it will NOT work from the web, but will work on a tablet and a PC with Excel installed. The macro opens a UI: Load file: [[ Browse... ]] | Report for [ Brand | v ] [ Item (all) | v ] [ Color (all) | v ] [[ Create selected report ]] Report low and missing inventory [[ Create needed inventory report ]] Load config file | Save config Once you choose a file to load, it erases the current sheet, and creates a new sheet with one line per product (brand item and color) and in the product row, two cells for each size: size value and size qty, so for instance you'll have: Nike Mercurial Red [6.5:] 15 [7:] 9 [8.5:] 2 etc. It will also create a sheet called config. This sheet is not erased, but is updated with new products if they exist. The config sheet will have each product (brand item and color) with available sizes and next to them the minimum number to warn for, if reached or less than that. Each product has a category: Shoes / Shirts ... you decide Sizes with a low or missing quantity will be colored orange and red. Empty cells will be marked in small font as n/a and grayed out. You make Report for selected items, and report for needed items.
