Apache server crashes every hour, with memory usage shooting up from from 8% (during fresh start) to 100% (after an hour).

I'm running a Wordpress blog (with some 10 plugins), and an article site powered by ArticleLive CMS, hosted in a powerful dv-Extreme (MediaTemple) server.
My web host support say that the crash is caused by Wordpress, or perhaps because there are large number of active connections. The real cause is unknown at this point.
I can see a lot of Privvmpages and kmem... "black zone" warnings in Plesk's QoS section.
For now, I can restart the server ever hour to keep my site running, but I'm looking for a permanent fix for this problem.
## Deliverables
I'm looking for someone who understands WordPress/Apache/MySQL/PHP well enough to track down and fix the the rootcause of the crash.
## Platform
