I have C# code that I found examples of online for converting a bitmap to either 1BPP monochrome or 8BPP grayscale using the Windows GDI (so it is very fast).

I need it to be modified (improved) to convert to a few? additional? formats:

8bit color

4bit color

4bit grayscale
