Alter some Images

We are creating art for give away tote bags. The imprint area is 10" W x 8" H. The imprint is one color only - white. On the top left side of this imprint area we would like to place an outline of the attached image, the outline has to be in white, background has to be transparent. Here is what I did - I created a trace in Illustrator; then in Photoshop I worked on this trace and made all white to be transparent and change the black to white. However, because the face has a lot of details, shadows etc the white outline does not look good (eyes look hollow etc.). I am not an expert at art so I need help to get the art created. I am attachng following files: 1) Fotolia_29071101_XL - This is the original image from which the art needs to be created 2) Fotolia_29071101_XL - Trace from Illustrator - This is the trace created in AI 3) test - This is the output from Photoshop after changing whites to be transparent 4) test2 - This is the output from Photoshop after changing blacks to white. This is the final product required - i.e. white trace. But it needs to be created so it is clean and looks good to be on marketing materials (to be printed on grocery bag).
