Convert 3D Sketchup file to Pepakura

I have a Phaser Rifle from Star Trek the next Generation as a Google Sketchup model but need this converting to a simpler model so that I can print it from the Pepakura Designer program ([login to view URL]‎) I'm not too worried about textures or illustrations as long as the model is precise and detailed enough to print and construct. Right now, the model contains far too many vertices and does not render correctly in Pepakura. I want to be able to render the model with no issues between the edges or to render any curved surfaces with a limited amount of vertices and planes to ensure that when crafting this, it won't be too difficult.
