The title of the assignment: ' A critical evaluation of going international/global;' Purpose of the assessment: In the context of a self-selected SME (UK), to critically evaluate some of the essential issues in entering an international market with a business’s products or services. Introduction to the Context: You work for a SME [you choose], your line manager has asked you to write a 2000 word report evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of taking some of the organisation’s products or services into an international market[s]. You are also required to suggest and justify, in outline, what strategies and tactics may need to be adopted. Your Specific Instructions: You should present your work as a formal business report of 2000 words plus appendices, which must be referred to within the report, if included. You are advised to use no more than 600 words on the advantages and disadvantages of going international/global. Assessment Criteria Knowledge and Understanding tested in this assignment: • the changing nature of the global trading environment and the major strategic and contextual trends which affect global strategic decision-making; • the different social and cultural conventions which effect buying behaviour and marketing approaches; Skills and Attributes tested in this assignment: • critically analyse the global marketing environment through the use of models and tools for decision making; • evaluate and apply global marketing strategies, plans and tactics to a range of global marketing scenarios; • conduct research on a business and a global market. Note: Only secondary research allowed. It is essential that you include: • Theories relating to marketing analysis and marketing entry strategies. • Headings to clarify theories and illustrations,and to aid presentation. • Ensure full academic referencing throughout, using the Harvard Referencing style, CASE Guide. • Use a range of academic resources (books, journals, websites). Do not use website references alone. Do not use Wikipedia.
