Hello ! As you can see in my profile, I also have a DNS & Bind Level 1 Exam here, and I do have my own DNS servers installed on my managed servers serving some hundred domains, runninng smoothly since some 7-8 years. So this won't be much of a hassle doing the same for your own needs, it'll take 1-1.5h total. What CentOS version do you have installed, 5/6/7? Are there any additional tasks related to this install&configure part, such as setting up some domains/zones or anything? Is the server behind a firewall, or only the iptables used ? Regards, Dragos

Hi there, Seasoned DNS expert with +20 years experience. I have done 100's of installations of DNS servers. I do DNS system design, planned migrations, disaster recovery, disaster planning, load balancing, and special projects. Free advice: If you're about to deploy a new DNS system please stay away from BIND! If you have the choice of distribution, stay away from CentOS for running DNS services. As long as you're not going to run a server with millions of constantly changing zonefiles, a small VPS is enough. Dedicated is pure overkill. My offer: There's better DNS systems and distributions on the market for what you need. I'd be happy to help you. With kind regards KJ
