Desktop Communication Project

I already have the "gadget" that should work. I need a server/client GUI interface, server application and installation programs. I also need enhancements to the project. Basically, you will be creating a webpage, using the server component, that will be displayed on the desktop. The webpage will need to created through the server application. Once the webpage(s) are created they will be deployed via the client install application. The entire process is not difficult. I created a very basic php version and now I want a more functional, professional looking version. I would like a gadget that works in Windows 7 and Vista (already have the gadget). The gadget will retrieve data(announcements) from a URL based server and display the data in a scrolling information window. Information Window * - Components a. Rectangular Area for logo at the top b. 5 customizable buttons/icons - When clicked, opens browser and takes to website. 4 characters of text under each button c. Information window that scrolls html based data (announcements). Data is retrieved from a web-based url database d. 5 customizable buttons/icons - - When clicked, opens browser and takes to website. 4 characters of text under each button Function - The information window periodically connects to the server, via url, every 2 hours. - The information window provides information categories. The server returns information to display that meets the category specifications. - An information window can be apart of one or more categories; established during setup process. Setup process discussed later. - The information window scrolls the web-based data within the window area. Server Function * The server is a web-based application that allows an administrator and managers to: - Add, modify and delete information that will be displayed in the information window. Information data: Title, Text, Start and Stop Date/Time, Priority Pop-Up, Allow Reminder Email (explained below) - Add, modify and delete users (administrators and managers) - Create categories to associate information within - Specify the refresh rate for clients Server Functionality to information windows - Aids in setup by providing a list of categories for the client to subscribe - Provides the client installation program with details on information window appearance (dimension, colors, logo, link settings, etc) - Accepts connections from the client information window, searches the database of potential information announcements and sends data to client that meets category, start and stop times. Note: Information sent to and displayed by the client is considered an announcement. Each announcement is html based and can have a start and stop time. Meaning the server does not return the announcement for display if beyond the stop time. - Tells the client how often to check with the server for updated information (refresh time).
