Hello!
If you need someone who can:
1. Find and fix grammatical errors.
2. Rewrite passive, long, and complex sentences into simpler, engaging ones.
3. Understands the flow of the story and restructures accordingly to maximise continuation and interest level.
4. Has professional experience in editing as per popular style guides.
5. Has prior experience in story and novel writing.
6. Can find and fix all formatting and punctuation errors, if any.
7. Can fix all spelling errors, and knows the difference between 'compliment' and 'complement,' 'advise' and 'advice,' and 'your' and 'you're.'
Then I'm your editor.
I can work with minimal supervision, while providing you with regular updates on the editing progress. I understand both American and British English spellings and preferred lingo (lift vs elevator.) And finally, I bid low because I love reading fresh, new, great stories and would love to be a part of your novel's future success!
Should you choose to award me this (super-exciting) project, this is what my process would look like:
1. You'd send over the manuscript.
2. I'd take a quick once-over, and then ask you the following questions -
a) Do you want it in American or British English (or any other...)
b) Are you looking for a major grammatical overhaul, or do you just want to make sure there aren't any typos in there.
c) Who is the book's target audience. Why do I ask? Shorter and sweeter sentences are best for children, & a slightly higher level of syntax and vocab for the adults.
3. We'll quickly work out some milestones.
4. I'll get started and provide you with daily updates on my progress, all the while, completing milestones previously agreed upon.
5. Make any other clarifications along the way, if needed.
6. I submit the final document.
I look forward to working with you. And to reading your story! Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions at all.
Best,
Diva
