Steven is a 29-year-old male who has arrived with his mother. It becomes apparent that he still lives with his parents, and has never worked. The mother is clearly exasperated and concerned for her son.
He has several presenting issues, and anger is clearly one of them.
It becomes clear that he came reluctantly. During the initial interview Steven becomes defensive and takes offence at the thrust of your questioning. He becomes belligerent and aggressive with both his mother and yourself claiming that he has been railroaded into this session and feels badgered and misunderstood.
Write a 600-word blog post in the aftermath of this client’s session discussing how you addressed the conflict, the importance of the therapeutic alliance, the value of effective communication, and the need for empathy and understanding as a hypnotherapist, and what you learned from this session.
