I am looking to develop a new type of blind spot indicator to be retrofit on all current and older model cars that are not equipped with this safety feature. I am in the "idea" phase and need a proof of concept for a Kickstarter funding project. The idea is a low-cost, simple-to-install, self-contained device which attaches to any vehicle's side view mirrors using 3M double-sided tape. The device uses solar panel type charging of an internal battery, and ultrasonic sensors which light up an indicator bulb and flashes when cars approach within the blind spot of a driving vehicle. There should be no wiring, drilling, and no need to tap into the vehicle's power source.
