Automatization of data import Microsoft SQL

Hi I have been working with MSSQL for over 17 years. I am fully experienced as a developer and a DBA. Currently I am working at big financial organization in which I am responsible for the BI department. I have designed and the Developed the Organization’s Reporting Database which has been constructed with SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition. The database is being updated daily from the core system with txt or excel files via SSIS or with direct connection at mainframe’s DB2 and a numerous of KPIS are being daily updated during the ETL. For isolation reasons the KPIS are replicated to another DB (with transactional replication) which exploits the reports via SSRS to the consumers. Some KPIS are being replicated with merged (bidirectional) replication. Also, 10 Cubes in SSAS are being daily automatically processed and the end of the ETL. Several other reports are daily automatically produced and sent via email to the recipients. Finally I have designed and developed the bank’s crm DB which is published on the intranet. The DB holds full information about the customers (Customers,Addresses , Financial Data , Contacts , campaigns , etc) and covers 4 countries. To achieve this i have made partitions over the country code. The size of the Reporting DB, is about 4TB and consists of about 4.000 objects and the replicated KPI DB is 350GB. Best Regards mpalgeo

I have provide you solution by creating a window service, Which you can run on any internal like every 1 hour/6 hour/1 day etc.. Good morning. If I am not wrong, you just need a system where the DropShipper (DB3) data will be pulled in, analyzed against existing DB2, new items will be added & existing items will be updated with a DB3 => DB2 field mapping. I believe you will be running this utility/updater periodically, or may be with some trigger/event. If this is the case, please let me know if you feel me eligible for the task. Hi, I've read your requirement and it seems that you need a background processing in getting the data from xml, csv or url. For this, I suggest that we use a windows service that will serve as a middle man between an external DB3 to transfer needed data to DB2. It seems that DB2 and DB1 will be handled by your website and this is already outside the scope of this project, am I right? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Hope I can here from you soon. I believe that one could use cron jobs for this but this is highly dependent on whether you are using cPanel as a webshop backend or not. Hi, We just have to create a tool that will: - poll the 3rd party service periodically - retain the required data - merge the new data in the DB2 database I can build the tool in C#, we can then use the SQL Server CLR integration to run the tool from SQL Server itself. Alternatively, I can build the tool in python (or C# as well) and run it in its own process. I can also provide user documentation and support around the tool. I have already created a python program that is able to poll the NIST NVD vulnerability database and to merge new data with an existing private database. Hi I have gone through the job description and see the image with the case. I have done this earlier and there are many ways to do it but with my experience I would like to propose you the 100% foolproof solution : It will a windows service or a console which will be invoked from windows task scheduler and the program will take care of field mapping and integrity and accuracy of data. after every harvest of data a log will be maintained and if there is any kind of failure an email will be shot to given email ID. I hope with have control on infrastructure I mean we have our own servers in stead of share hosting. Please let me know if you have any questions on proposed solution. Thanks
