Project Nine (or “P9”) is a code name for an Internet based web site. We are the owners of the site and the business. There are many programming components to this project and we will put certain definable components out for bid. We may also invite people who have completed these components to join the project on a more permanent basis.
Where possible, we manage projects by creating detailed specifications before we start development. We also use as much proven, open source code as possible. While this process requires more work in the beginning, we find that this early effort provides the following benefits:
1. The tasks and requirements are clearly defined
2. we get the software we ask for
3. the milestones are clear
4. you get paid faster for each milestone, and
4. your work is more profitable because
a) you can accurately estimate the time and
b) there are less unforeseen surprises and development costs for you
This document and this request for bid is NOT a request to create a web site. If we receive a bid for a website we will reject the bid.
The purpose of this document is to request bids for a comprehensive web site development plan. The development plan will be used to requests bids to develop the website. The person or group that delivers the plan will be in the best position to win the website development project. We are paying you to do the planning phase.
The PowerPoint presentation, the Excel spreadsheet and this Word document provide a description in good detail of the web site. These three documents are to be used to help you put together a bid for creating the development plan and as the foundation for the actual development plan. If we get a bid back in less than 30 minutes we will reject the bid because we will know that you did not read the documents.
You must read the documents.
