I am looking for an outside idea to raise and lower a canopy. The attached figures represent ideas that have been explored to some degree or in one case fully designed and spec'd, but not yet built, because I feel there may be something better out there. The upper canopy (above the boat side) must maintain a near "level" attitude during raising and lowering. I am NOT looking to visually redesign this boat... graphics cannot be altered. I am looking for a mechanism and controls.... pivot, inline, or other. The top of that canopy must come down from 80 inches above deck to 44... no clunky cables please. Please note: I have already paid a hefty fee to one design engineer for a concept that my friend had previously scribbled on a bar napkin during lunch.
