I need a reasonable emulation of the commercial full-featured MS-windows-only text editor TextPad, implemented on the X Window System on Linux. I believe the best way to do it would be to build a translation layer on top of gvim or xemacs, but I could be convinced of another approach. Emulation has to be good enough that people with Textpad muscle memory feel comfortable. Same window, tab, and cursor behaviors, same keystroke responses. Please see the key features list at [login to view URL] . The product will be coverable under GNU GPL version 2 or equivalent.

Good day, my name is Jackson Kaindume I am Software Engineer, I think I can help you with this project. I am an avid emacs user and know elisp pretty well so my first option will be to add a TextPad mode within emacs that supports all features of TextPad. Another approach is to port TextPad completely if we can find the source, another one is to run it via wine. Please do tell me more about the specific features you wish to emulate (is it the entire thing or just some of the features eg: key bindings).
