The aim of this project is to carry out an energy consumption survey in a building of choice.

The stochastic behavior of the energy usage should be analyzed on different time frames. A simulation of the building of interest is to be developed as to compare the actual data to that obtained from the simulation.

This comparison will then allow comment to be made on how efficient the building is and necessary recommendations be made which are to improve the overall efficiency of the building.

Basically the aim is to perform an appliance scheduling analysis for the various loads in the home. This is to be done in order to reduce the cost of usage as cost of electricity usage fluctuates throughout the day. The analysis can be done using Linear programming or quadratic programming.

The inputs to the program are the smart meter readings (actual measured data) of the different loads per unit time and the output should be the scheduled version of the appliances.

In other words, If there is a geyser, a stove and a fridge. The fridge will be on all day but the geyser and stove can be scheduled to operate at certain times to avoid the cost and exceeding the penalty constraint.

The penalty constraint is a set amount in KWh that should not be exceeded at each time interval.

The code should then be able to plot the different loads and show the difference in the dynamic energy usage between the unscheduled and scheduled operation of appliances, ideally this should be shown for the different time frames being every 15 mins, hourly and daily.
