web based interface

i have a web design firm and we need to build a web based interface for a small law firm in the US. They use a software called legal files [login to view URL] it is case management software and it runs on a windows server behind their office firewall. It uses a SQL database. The software allows them to keep track of legal cases by tracking phone calls, letters, emails. They want us to build a web based interface that will allow their clients to get updates or status reports when they log into a website. this new site would pull a handful of status type fields from the SQL database running legal files software and write it to a web face with a simple to understand user interface. Their business involves representing condo associations. They have two types of clients that will need to access the website. Single associations and management companies. The only difference is that management companies have multiple associations. So in the case of condo associations they would only see their status updates whereas the management companies would see a number of status updates for the condo associations they manage. i am attaching pictures of a system used by another law firm. We want something very similar as far as functionality. here are some other things to consider; 1 - we must not cause any problems with their existing software (legal files) 2 - the site probably should be secure 3 - they have an existing informational website based on a php type server that hosts their existing website which is a joomla site. It does not allow a client to check status of their cases. 4- clients of the law firm have an existing portal they can enter now from legal files software after they login to a remote exchange type desktop. the problem is that the interface is not friendly at all and they cant find the simple info they need quickly and print it. the existing system uses crystal reports which is too complicated. The reason i go into this is because the clients have an existing user name and password and maybe we would want to use this or maybe not. please get specific as to how we are going to connect to their database with the least amount of disruption to their business. ## Deliverables * * *This broadcast message was sent to all bidders on Monday Nov 22, 2010 11:09:24 PM: sorry for the long delay but this project has changed and has been re-posted. please search for bid request ID #1544879 it still involves connecting to an external database but the database type is different now as my client changed their internal software. it should be easier now. please bid on the new project if u are still interested. thx brian
