New website to replace \'tired old one\'

We need to update our current web-site [login to view URL] and so far we have had three attempts by 'web-site developers' none of which I found terribly inspiring. An example of a proposal can be found at [login to view URL] and I have attached another mock up I am keen to explore the possibility of a Metro/Windows 8 type style which in essence will be a brochure type site. As consulting engineers, we have 4 main sectors of work, Residential, Commercial, Industrial and Infrastructure which I see as being 4 tiles on the front page together with an 'About'. 'Contact' and Blog/Twitter and 'news' tiles. Random tiles of project pictures could also be introduced. Clicking on one of the 4 main tiles would then take you through to their own page which would perhaps have 9 or so thumbnails of example projects which when clicked a short copy explanation of that project would appear. The website would ultimately (ideally) need to be able to be updated by ourselves i.e. if we have a new project we could replace one of the older ones. I understand that Wordpress is a good option but I am no expert and would be advised accordingly.
