Produce an interactive U.S. map which allows the user to find additional information about "events" in a city.
* Written in ActionScript, with most data loaded from XML, and images from .jpg files.
* Base art is a U.S. Map, with a number of cities marked. Typically 5-10 cities will be marked.
* Map is a Lambert Conformal Conic projection. Info:

You will port a function from the gPoint PHP class to ActionScript to take lat/long inputs, and plot them on the Lambert Conformal Conic map. You will need to be good at math. There is one equation which does most of the work.
* We will provide an mock-up with the overall look and feel -- see attached mockup
* On mouseOver, there is a simple highlight effect
* onClick, an icon for the city appears, and it is prominently highlighted, and in a panel below the flash box -- in HTML, web text will load with info for that city in a {div} or {iframe}.
* We will try a few different UI effects for the mouseover and click.
* We will provide the icons for all the cities, and lat/long for all cities.
* The map will be defined by an XML file, with a structure like:
{city lat="40.40" lon="73.55" name="New York" desc="March 15, 2006 - Event title and description here" img="images/[login to view URL]" html="[login to view URL]"/}
* You will also specify the map jpg in xml, noting the parallels, origin, and northering and eastering values.
Thank you, we look forward to your bid.
