I would like to find a solution of physician problem by using a meta heuristic Iterated local search (ILS) algorithm
Using Matlab program
there are two types of constrains : Hard constrain and soft ones.
A-Hard Constraints (Regulations and Policies) should be satisfied
1. Satisfy the health care requirements by assigning at
least the required number of physicians to each shift of
each day.
2. Full utilization of regular resource by assigning to each
physician the exact number of shifts he or she has to
work in the emergency department.
3. No more than one shift per day per physician.
4. At least 16 hours rest between two shifts.
5. All night shifts are assigned in consecutive days for each
physician.
B-Soft Constraints (Goals and Preferences)the algorithm try to solve it as much as possible.
1. Minimum number of changes between shift types
2. Satisfy requested days off.
3. Satisfy requested morning shifts.
4. Satisfy requested afternoon shifts.
5. Satisfy requested night shifts.
6. No isolated days off.
7. No isolated days on.
8. The same number of weekends off for each physician,
except seniority reasons, or other priority rule.
9. The same number of night shifts for each physician,
except seniority reasons, or other priority rule.
