I'm working (alone) on a small 3d-printing startup project. I have plenty of .STL files and new ones each weeks, so I'm looking for someone who can write this script for me that will help me to be more efficient.
More precisely, the final goals of this script are the following one :
To get the size of a model from its .STL file
To estimate the cost of production and the sale price
To scale the model up and down and estimate the cost/price for each variation
To identify the author of the model
The script will be written in Python and use the Slic3r console to be able to achieve goals 1 to 3.
For the 4th objective, only Python will be required and Slic3r won’t be used.
A [login to view URL] file will be required for users to put some variables needed for the script running well, especially for the production cost and for the scaling.
The freelancer has the responsibility to create the structure of the script and its dependencies, as long as it fits the goals already described and the general instructions below. The freelancer has also the responsibility to create an instructions file for the user.
The input will be a global folder containing a [login to view URL] file and all subfolders. Subfolders will each have one or many .stl file(s) and a [login to view URL] file that contains the author’s name. The structure will be like the following one :
Global folder
- Subfolder 1 (name of the model)
-STL file(s) folder
-Subfolder 2 (name of the model)
-STL file(s) folder
-Other subfolders….
Considering this structure, instructions in the document explain how the script will get and create the data for only one model. Hence, a loop will be required to browse and operate similarly through all the subfolders.
The final output will be a .csv with a precise header.. The header will be provided in the last step of this project with some other constants. All other variables will be produce in the following step. Each model (.stl file) will be a row of the final .csv.
For those interested in this project, please read this document that contains all instructions and steps for the work.
