Analysis Case The governor heard you are a stats wiz and has contacted you for statistical consulting! She is interested in understanding what is driving crime rates in her state so she can plan her crime reduction strategy for the following year. She would like to know what factors are related to a lower crime rate so that she can take action and improve her results (there is talk of her making a run for the presidency and she wants crime to be part of her election platform). She would like you to analyze some data about crime in her state and provide her a summary of the results with recommendations for how to improve crime rates. "Please present your recommendation using a combination of words and visuals. Please create 3 slides and an executive summary. You may use any statistical analysis software available (i.e. SPSS, SAS, R, etc.) Remember, your client is not a statistics expert but wants to be able to use the insights from your analysis to inform her decision-making." 1. What are the key factors related to crime rate in her state and what is the strength of the relationship? 2. How big of a role does police funding play in reduction of crime compared to other demographic factors? Do they overlap? 3. What actions would you recommend the governor take to reduce crime in her state?
