The two basic systems, which need to be attended to, are: · Intensity Modulation Direct Detection (IMDD), and · Coherent Detection (CD), using Analog Modulation (AM), Frequency Modulation (FM), or Phase Modulation (PM) Intensity modulation with direct detection method includes Double Sideband (DSB), Single Sideband (SSB), Double Sideband Suppressed Carrier (DSB-SC) and Single Sideband Suppressed Carrier (SSB-SC) modulation. The coherent optical analog modulation scheme can be categorized into three modes such as Amplitude Modulation (AM), Frequency Modulation (FM) and Phase Modulation (PM). We need to do the simulations of the above modulation formats and design a new model to remove chromatic dispersion and achieve high dynamic range. Preferred system for modelling is "Optisystem". In the end you would need to generate some graphs to show the performance of the systems. The research paper relevant to this project is also attached. I have also attached some sample optisystem files for the circuits.
