I have worked on Ansys fluent for CFD modellling of Circulating fluidized bed coal combustion. I can do this work in no time because I have a power workstation.

1) For shell and tube heat exchanger: It is recommended to have both source and sink to be gases so as to capture the effect of heat transfer coefficient of both fluids using CFD. For example an Air-Preheater used in Boiler(Energy) Equipments. Because if we take water to gas heat exchange then water side heat transfer need not to be solved as heat transfer coefficients of water is in 1000's and gases is in 100's or even less, so overall heat transfer coefficient is governed by gas side heat transfer coefficient only. For flow patterns though it can be solved. Contours and flow patterns near the boundary layers can be captured and even average friction factor and heat transfer coefficient required for the simulated heat transfer can be calculated and given. 2) Thermosyphon loop Complete mathematical model with how much fluid is flowing per unit time can be calculated. Also pressure drops/rise in risers, downcomer and heat exchanger(heating side) can be individually calculated and given. Pressure drop will include static and dynamic pressure drops. CFD model without phase change. For example water thermosyphon loop without phase change and only flow because of density change can be simulated given with flow patterns, pressure drop captured. Boiling is still in nascent stage in fluent. But if required a separate mathematical model for phase change thermosyphon loop with all the said results can be given.

1) I will design shell and tube heat exchanger with helical baffle using CFD. 1.1 Purpose of Use of Helical Baffle: A new type of baffle, called the helical baffle, provides further improvement. This type of baffle was first developed by Lutcha and Nemcansky. They investigated the flow field patterns produced by such helical baffle geometry with different helix angles.
