This paper presents the result of an investigation aimed at
developing a ferro-cement wall panel using river sand and M-sand and
comparing the strength between the wall panels by conducting
flexural strength test. Additionally the mesh used for wall panels also
tested in UTM machine to find out the tensile strength of the mesh.
To accomplish this objective, an experimental program was conducted
and theoretical model was adopted. The experimental program
comprised casting and testing of two wall panels of total dimensions
750×750×25 mm consisting of welded steel square mesh and
hexagonal chicken mesh. After curing period the wall panels are tested
by conducting flexural strength test and comparing the result to know
about the load carrying capacity of ferro-cement wall panels using
river sand and M-sand. The wall panel which sustains the maximum
load can be used for varies purpose like construction of water tanks ,
silos and low cost housing facilties for rural peoples.
