Photomath is the world's most used math app, with more than 280M App Downloads, 4.7 App Store Rating, available in more than 30 languages, and solving over a billion math problems per month! With our mobile app, users can solve math problems instantly using their phone camera to get detailed step-by-step instructions to help maximize learning.
To support even more content in different languages, we are looking for math teachers, math graduates, or math enthusiasts, to translate our mathematical content from English to German. We are looking for people who understand the math-solving process and are familiar with math terminology and content studied from the lowest grades all the way to college. Our targeted market is Germany, so the translations would need to be adapted to German school system.
We are looking for three different translators to translate three different types of content. In the attached files you can find the example of each type of content along with the interface of our system that you would be using for translating. Besides translating, we are expecting feedback about anything not applicable or explained differently in German.
These are the three projects we are offering:
1) Animation texts
The project includes translating 3133 "Animation texts". This would be separated into 7 milestones over 7 weeks. That means, each week, you would be translating around 500 Animation texts. The payment is calculated based on the number of texts (1.5$ per text), so the project is worth 4 700$.
2) Hints
The project includes translating 626 "Hints" with a total of 26 579 words. This would be separated into 4 milestones over 4 weeks. That means, each week, you would be translating around 200 Hints with approximately 8500 words. The payment is calculated based on the number of words in English (0.1$ per word), so the project is worth 2 660$. This project also has a possible follow-up project, but more on that upon finishing this one.
3) Whys
The project includes translating 849 "Whys" with a total of 76 796 words. This would be separated into 9 milestones over 9 weeks. That means, each week, you would be translating around 100 Whys with approximately 9000 words. The payment is calculated based on the number of words in English (0.1$ per word), so the project is worth 7 680$.
All three projects would start on the first of December, 2022.
Requirements:
- You are familiar with math content studied from lower grades all the way to college
- German is your native language
- Additional plus is if you are a math teacher, if you are a math graduate and/or if you have experience in math tutoring
At the end of the project, if both parties are satisfied, there is an opportunity to continue our collaboration.
If you are interested in one of these projects, please send us information about your past experiences, which project you would like to take on and why you would be a perfect candidate for this job. We look forward to receiving your response! We will be collecting the applications until Monday, 28th of November, end of the day. If you satisfy our requirements, you can expect us to contact you after Monday.
Thank you very much for your time and have a great day.
Best regards,
Photomath team
Dear Photomath Team, I would like to bid on this interesting project. As a mathematics PhD student in Germany (check out my publication), I am clearly very well qualified to translate mathematics into German. I have over five years of experience teaching mathematics to college and high school students. Since I often write German Wikipedia articles about mathematics in my free time, it would clearly be a good thing for me to substitute this with translating your app content for a while. I have successfully completed a larger translation project on this platform before. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi there!
I am a German native, currently operating from Munich, Germany. I have extensive experiences in translating, writing, proof reading and publishing due to my day job as a business consultant and have done this type of work for various publishing companies as well. Also, I am very familiar with math, due to tutoring jobs during my studies. I currently hold an M.Sc. in Economics and am therefore very familiar with math books.
Compared to others, I solely work alone and would be the only one responsible for the high-quality result. Also, I would be interested in all three projects (preference for the 3rd 'Whys') and be happy to provide you a test sample in order to convince you of the quality of my work.
Looking forward to hearing from you and all the best
Toni

Hello dear Photomath team,
I am Tobias, and I would like to work with you on the German translations for your website. I did several translation jobs from English to German and vice versa, and I am also familiar with Math from higher to lower levels, since I have a degree in Informatics, Math played a big role in my studies and still does in my Master's degree. I would like to talk to you in detail about the potential project and hope to hear from you soon.
Best regards, Tobias
Hey!
I am a Master student in Mathematics with good experience in tutoring, private and on University. Since during my studies i have many courses which are taught in english, so I'm familiar with the technical mathematical terms in english. Additionally I am a native german speaker.
I am looking forward to a postive feedback.
Greetings, Alex.
Hello,
I am a native German speaker with a very good command of English and the ability to translate complicated texts in an understandable way. I have a great expression in written German, which I could prove in other projects. I already gained experience as a picture to text translator and was able to complete the project successfully.
I would be very happy if you put your trust in me and let me convince you of my abilities as a translator.
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
I heard you are looking for a fast german translator for your app. Quick information about myself: My name is Soe Moe Thein and I was born in Nürnberg, Germany. I have worked in the translation industry for more than one year through upwork, that's why I do not only bring my energy and my motivation into this job, but also practical experience into this job. I can assure you to stick to given deadlines and deliver you your wanted results. I have translated many documents from novels to news letters before and would love to support you with this matter. A few days ago I had to translate 100 pages of the novel "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" and I was able to translate these pages within 3 days, which prooves that I am an experienced translator, but also dedicated and on time. I am also familiar with all the mathematical terms, etc. since I went through college as well in Germany. I also have a 16 year old daughter at home who also gets help for her math homework by me, which is why I am constantly repeating math classes again. All three projects sound interesting and I would also be excited to work on them, but if I had to choose I would pick the first project "Translating Animation Texts" to work on first. I'm looking forward to working with you and hope to get the opportunity to work with you!
Kind regards,
Soe Moe Thein
