Video production for a mental health educational project within our training team in an NHS Trust. This is required for nursing students who would ordinarily go on and on-site placement within hospitals have been unable to do so due to pandemic restrictions therefore we wish to film and edit a brief scenario that student may ordinarily experience in real life.
Video content and numbers:
Video plays out a scene between a clinician and a patient admitted to the Trust. This patient is agitated, possibly showing symptoms of psychosis and paranoia, and the clinician needs to de-escalate the situation.
There are six videos in total. These should each be no less than 30 seconds, and no more than two minutes in length, once fully edited.
The final videos will therefore total c. 8-12 minutes in length depending on edits.
Approach:
A branching scenario with a central storyline, branching off to three possible outcomes (NB We have scripted to record four possible outcomes so that we have a back-up scene if required).
Scripts are available, written by trainers/nursing subject matter experts - we will provide these in advance of filming.
Actor is available with method expertise in the mental health conditions and patient scenarios required. The other participant in filming is a professional clinician well-versed in simulation-style exercises.
Scene will be in an improvisational style with the actor and trainer playing out the scenario - some direction may be required to ensure the points outlined in the scripts are met, but we expect this to be a light-touch requirement.
Services Required:
Fly on the wall, documentary style/observational filming of acted out scenarios.
Video production services must bring own cameras, microphones, lighting and other filming equipment required.
Quality production: Consistently framed with characters the key focus of shots. Audio should be clear with no echo or ‘tinniness’. We suggest a two-to-three camera set up of two-to-three different angles; one should be on each speaker, three-quarter profile shot, and the third for a wider shot of the room.
Quality editing: Correctly white balanced, two-to-three camera shots as detailed above. Audio should preferably have 2 tracks, i.e. on board mic and then an external recorder.
NB There are no title/outro cards or animations required for these videos.
The clinician and actor have worked together previously and will likely self-direct for the most part – the clinician in particular is an expert in understanding what happens in meetings like the ones we are filming, and so they will be able to note whether something is realistic or not, for example.
*A training simulation room will be set up by our staff, with all props and set design required
Example:
[login to view URL] - shows what we’d like to see in physical set-up but with improvements e.g. the two camera shots more like mirror-versions of one another, not set up at different heights and angles. It would also potentially be useful to have a third camera to show the wider room, but this is not absolutely essential – so long as we can see some movement towards the door, as has been scripted at certain points, this should be fine.
Deadline:
The first set of video edits should be available for review by 29th September 2021.
Final edits based on reviews and comments should be completed by 6th October 2021.
Future work:
This will be first in a series of scenarios and other ongoing projects. We are looking for a video production partner with an excellent quality of video output and great working relationships with clients, for further video projects.
Next steps:
Please include a link to a showreel portfolio of other video work.
Hi there,
I would love to be involved in this project and develop an ongoing connection and partnership for future work. I have been shooting and editing through my own production company for over 12 years now and have an excellent track record of client retention due to the quality of work and the project delivery speed. I have produced films for NHS SBS, HSBC, Local council and government and also shot any live events all over Europe.
I am a film graduate (BA Hons in film & digital Media) and Im super easy to work with. I have a great kit list and can shoot 3 cameras with balanced lighting and colour across the range (all have the same colour science).
Always available through chat or a call.
Thanks for considering me.
