I plan to present a stand-up performance, that is part philosophy/ part story, part serious/ part comedy, and part reasonable/ part rhetorical. It is designed to playfully highlight some of the incoherence in contemporary society and intellectual debate, with the intention of facilitating greater understanding and presenting the possibility of progress by highlighting the signs of it already emerging. The aim is to outline an inspiring vision of what the future could hold and how we can achieve it. If it helps, imagine a cross between Stewart Lee and Jordan Peterson, yet progressive with more positivity.
The video project I envision will be filmed over 2 days, it is experimental in nature, will be part scripted and part improvised, and the intention is that it form the basis of a kick-starter campaign to fund a further extension to the project.
I am looking for a freelancer willing to work collaboratively rather than just fulfil a role, willing to bring their creative and technical skillset to help create something more than just a mere video product. Someone with the necessary technical skills to light, film, preferable from several angles, and edit the project; someone with a creative approach to videography, who can help design the best way to present it. Someone who has a feel for location and setting, who could help find a suitable cost-effective location, either real world location or studio, perhaps with green screen, in order to film the project. Ideally, someone who aspires to creating art, someone with a feel for the aesthetic, an eye for the beautiful, who someone willing to bring their creativity into the project.
Ideal would be someone willing to offer feedback and help direct the stage performance in order to achieve the best results, and a bonus would be someone willing to engage interactively, questioningly, and willing to ask questions of the content and performance, in order to help refine and improve the presentation in order to better convey the message.
A bonus, although not necessary, would be if you have contacts who are either scriptwriters or intellectual comedians, those who write comedy scripts, who would also be willing to collaborate.
Ideal freelancer will:
1) be someone fresh and eager, who has the necessary talent, irrespective of experience,
2) have enough in their portfolio to at least demonstrate their skills and that can do the job,
3) recognise the necessity for change in the world, yet is not too jaded by contemporary culture, who can both recognise the problems and yet still believes in the possibility of progress.
4) be a questioning thinker, with a healthy scepticism, but without too much cynicism or negativity.
5) has a keen interest in the public intellectual debates that have been happening online, yet without blind adherence to any one particular individual or ideology.
A bonus, although not necessary, would be someone who has a versatile skillset beyond videography and editing, who could help tailor the footage and assist with its integration into a coherent kickstarter campaign in order to best communicate the message.
Chosen freelancer will be the respondent who demonstrates that they are the right choice for the project, even if that is only conditional until more information is received. More details will be shared with suitably interested respondents. For transparency, this isn't to maintain any form of confidentiality; it is merely to limit responses; to select for the curious and filter out the cynics.
I'm looking for someone who is not motivated purely by money, who aspires to something greater and to creating something meaningful in their work. That said, I appreciate it is a modern-day necessity, and hence will pay a fair rate that all artists deserve, and will pay expenses and a reasonable daily rate.
If this project isn't for you, but you know someone who would be ideal, I'm happy to pay a finders fee if the chosen responded comes from your referral.
